How to Create a New Page in Google Docs

The steps in this article are going to show you how to make a new page in a Google Docs document. We cover the steps briefly at the top of the article, then continue below with additional information and pictures for the steps.

1. Open your document in Google Docs.
2. Click at the point in the document where you wish to add the new page.
3. Click the Insert tab at the top of the window.
4. Select the Break option, then click Page Break.

When you are adding content to a document in Google Docs it will automatically add a new page at the end of the document when you've reached the end of the current page.

But occasionally you may discover that you need to make a new page in the middle of your Google Docs document, and the prospect of manually copying and pasting all of your information may seem a little daunting. It's also something that is very prone to error, which could leave you looking for a different method.

Fortunately you can make a new page in Google Docs with the help of the Page Break tool.

How to Add a New Page in Google Docs

The steps in this guide were performed in the desktop version of the Google Chrome Web browser, but will also work in other desktop browsers like Firefox or Edge.

Step 1: Go to https://drive.google.com and open the document in which you wish to make a new page.

Step 2: Click at the point in the document where you want to insert the page.

Step 3: Choose the Insert tab at the top of the window.

Step 4: Select the Break option, then click Page Break.

Note that you can also make a new page in Google Docs by clicking at the point where you wish to add the page, then pressing Ctrl + Enter on your keyboard.

How to Add a Page in the Google Docs iPhone App

You can also add a page in a Google Docs document if you are using the iPhone app.

This is accomplished by opening the document in the Google Docs app, touching the pencil icon at the bottom-right, then tapping where you wish to add the new page.

Touch the + icon at the top-right of the screen, then select the Page break option.

How Do I Delete a Blank Page in Google Docs?

If you have used the page break tool to insert some new pages in your document, it's possible that you did it too many times, and that you now have a full, blank page in the middle of your document.

To remove this entire blank page, position your cursor on the top line of the page you wish to remove, then press the Backspace key on your keyboard until you are on the previous page. This effectively removes the page break.

How to Use a Keyboard Shortcut to Create a New Page in Google Docs

If there is an action that you perform frequently in an application like Google Docs, then keyboard shortcuts can be a real time saver.

While everything that you may want to do in Google Docs isn't going to be possible with a keyboard shortcut, there is a keyboard shortcut for adding a new page.

Position your cursor at the point where you wish to add the new page, then press Ctrl + Enter on your keyboard to insert a page break.

How to Add Page Numbers in Google Docs
